Infection controls and universal precautions protect patients and staff alike.
Everyone benefits from rigorous infection control procedures — you, Dr. Stovall, and
our entire dental team. One of the cornerstones of an excellent doctor/patient
relationship is the element of trust. You should feel free to discuss the topic of
infection control with Dr. Stovall or any member of our team and expect to receive
a straightforward answer.
In building our new high tech facility we have gone to great lengths to implement
unparalleled infection control equipment and techniques. We follow procedures
recommended by several federal agencies: the Occupational Safety & Health
Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Centers
for Disease Control (CDC). These measures include:
- » Disinfectant hand soap
- » Gloves and face masks
- » Chemical disinfection of countertops and surfaces
- » Sterilization of all equipment before every use
- » Disposable materials
We sterilize all reusable equipment, including dental hand pieces. We use the
only Class B, "Hospital Grade" autoclave in the dental industry. This is a
device that completely kills all bacteria and viruses by the use of steam,
heat, and pressure.
With regard to the subject of infection control, information is a very powerful
tool for you, the patient. The more you know about our daily infection control
procedures and policies, the more comfortable you will feel. Please come to us
with any questions or concerns you may have about this extremely important subject.
